[Performance Introduction] Under the theme of "Density," this performance explores the sonic possibilities of the two traditional string instruments, the Gayageum and the Ajaeng, as well as the aesthetics of negative space. By extending the concept of density as a physical element into an artistic sensibility, the performance musically expresses the tension created by sound density, space, and negative space. These two instruments, possessing distinct ranges and timbres, traverse the boundaries between plucking and bowing, seeking new sonic harmony atop the textures of tradition. The program consists of four works: the premiere of an adaptation by a Korean composer, the premiere of a commissioned work by an international composer, and a new original composition by Ensemble Nouveau. Through this, the program simultaneously presents the modern expansion of Korean traditional music and the direction of international exchange.
