Synopsis
[Concert Introduction] On June 25, 2024, Norman Shetler, a world-renowned pianist and master of German Lieder accompaniment, passed away at the age of 93. He was highly respected for his profound interpretations and delicate musicality, having performed alongside world-class vocalists such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Peter Schreier. He also carried on the tradition of German Lieder by nurturing the next generation of musicians at institutions such as the Vienna National Conservatory of Music and the Mozarteum. He also displayed a unique artistic world as a puppet maker and puppeteer. This concert is a tribute organized by his students, Tenor Cho Yoon-hwan and Pianist Park Ji-hye, to honor Norman Shetler's art and music. Through the Lieders and music he loved, we wish to remember his warm artistic spirit and profound musical legacy together. [PROGRAM] F.
