[Performance Introduction] The spaces we inhabit are composed of countless sounds. The vibrations of a construction site beyond the wall, the clanging of knives in the kitchen, the wind outside the window, the fingertips tapping on a keyboard, the footsteps of someone passing by late at night. We live within them every day, yet it is rare to look at those sounds again through language. 'The House of Onomatopoeia - Seoul' is a project that newly connects the city with individual memories through onomatopoeia, mimetic words, sound art, improvisation, and participatory performance. Participating artists collect the sounds of the spaces they inhabit and record them anew in their own languages. The countless words thus created become a single 'house' above the performance venue. The audience walks freely within that house. Sounds that are spoken, repeated, resonate, and brush past. And at a certain moment, the space ceases to be a mere performance venue and becomes a living place of sound where different memories, senses, and languages coexist. This project, which began in Taipei, traveled through London and Paris, and arrived in Seoul, is an experiment to listen again to, speak again of, and live together with the sounds of our ordinary daily lives that we often overlook.
