[Synopsis] It begins in June 1950 in a peaceful rural village in Dalseong-gun, Daegu. A young girl named Yeonji, her older brother Yunho, and their friend Jeongwoo laugh and dream of the future in the fields of their hometown. However, with the outbreak of war, their lives are swept into an irreversible vortex. Yunho and Jeongwoo volunteer for the army and head to the battlefield, while Yeonji flees, facing a painful reality. Brutal battles rage on the front lines, and even in the extreme situation of being captured and tortured, Yunho ultimately leaves behind the words, "The flame of hope will not be extinguished." Jeongwoo survives but suffers from a deep sense of loss. After the war ends, Yeonji, left alone in the ruined village, sings while longing for those who have left. The work concludes with a grand finale featuring a chorus sung by the entire cast, accompanied by Yeonji's narration. A song of peace and harmony transcending ideology and generations offers solace to the victims of the Korean War. This work is not merely a war narrative, but rather a reflection on the wounds of our times and embodies historical lessons that must never be repeated. Furthermore, through the stories of a family, a soldier, and a girl whom no one paid attention to, it allows the audience to experience war as "their own story." "War Requiem - Flame of Hope" is an art of remembrance and a prayer for the future.
