[Performance Introduction] Beyond the Rules, Finally Play Code Cesi, a contemporary circus creative collective founded by Cyr Wheel artist Kwon Hae-won, expands the circus beyond a mere display of acrobatics into the language of contemporary performing arts. Circus props are reinterpreted not as cold objects, but as aesthetic "play equipment" that stimulates the senses, evoking memories of pure playgrounds where we created our own worlds simply by drawing a single line on the sand. The lines drawn on the stage reconstruct the familiar black box theater into an unfamiliar space of play, and the body functions as a language that simultaneously proves and dismantles rules. In this playground, some create rules, others follow and enjoy them, and still others twist and cross those lines to discover new forms of play. The sophisticated acrobatics of performers traversing the space between danger and balance, combined with the live performance of Mogwaa—who creates his own unique music without genre constraints ranging from 80s punk to techno, ambient, and house—craft the rhythms of tension and relaxation inherent in play. Within this space where control and liberation intersect, the audience does not remain mere observers; instead, they become participants in this play, experiencing tension and liberation through their own bodies. This performance was developed and produced based on a work created with support from the 2025 Seoul Foundation for Arts & Culture Street & Circus Creation Support Project. [Easy Text] ‘Code Sesi’ presents the circus not merely as a stunt performance, but as a new form of contemporary performing art. The circus props featured in the show are not just objects. They transform into tools used for play, awakening our senses and evoking memories of drawing lines on the sand during childhood. The lines drawn on the stage continuously transform the space. The familiar theater becomes a new space for play. The performer's body demonstrates rules, and also breaks them. Someone crosses the line to create a new game. The audience feels the performance in the same space and experiences tension and liberation through their own bodies. They come to participate in this game together.
