[Performance Introduction] Enveloped in the distance, and eventually gazing up wholeheartedly To commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, six musicians from France and Korea focus on sound as a phenomenon arising from encounters and relationships. Sound artist Hemi Klemensevitz, Haegeum player Kim Ye-ji, Viola d'Amore player Olivier Marin, Geomungo player Shim Eun-yong, medieval vocalist Christian Palois, and Jeongga singer Jo Yun-young—as the breath, vocalization, friction, and resonance of these six artists intersect, and as Jeongga and medieval chants, traditional instruments and soundscapes blend together to create music, we indulge in a boundaryless space where the space becomes the foreground. Upon closer examination, sound becomes melody, harmony, and rhythm through the formation of relationships, and is organized into music that carries emotion. Language is no different—vowels meet consonants to become sounds, and phonemes combine to form words and sentences. "Sound Is Not Made by Wind Alone or Sand Alone" unfolds the processes of sound generation, relationship formation, expansion, extinction, and return across multi-layered auditory spaces, presenting Sonic Theatre that treats music not as a "performed result" but as sound that lives and moves within relationships. As the noise of the air conditioning units beneath the stage and the ceiling lights, along with our breathing, vocalizations, and performances, endlessly intersect as center and background, appearing and disappearing, the performance hall becomes a single, living space.
