[Performance Introduction] Into the Revolution of Quiet Daily Life Folk duo Yeoyu & Seolbin, who won the Best Folk Album award at the 21st Korean Music Awards with the acclaim that their music “pierces through the backdrop of daily life and leaves a powerful imprint on the listener’s life,” have been singing songs that resonate with listeners by drawing out the deepest stories from their own lives. Rather than reproducing private pain as a specific event, the duo sings with voices that seem fragile yet solid, calling back the age-old role of “song” in the present tense. The comfort they offer does not come as a clear answer, but rather stems from a life that can only be seen because it exists in deep darkness. The moment one captures the subtle vibrations of the threads of life that seem about to break yet continue—the listener quietly overlaps with their own time. In this work, Yeoyu & Seolbin summon once again from memory the house in Jeju that they have now left behind, a place that has had a profound influence on their lives and music. Their third album, *Comedy*, which fully captures their life in Jeju, was selected for the special project commemorating the 20th anniversary of EBS Space Gonggam’s opening, "100 Masterpieces of Korean Popular Music in the 2000s," and was featured in a documentary. Directors Hwang Jung-won and Ahn Sang-min, who experienced their homes, workplaces, forests, and seas alongside them while directing the documentary *Yeoyu & Seolbin - [Comedy]*, delicately observe the flow of life that changes even after the recording and the lingering echoes of their voices left upon it. Invited to their home—the most personal space—the audience experiences that Yeoyu & Seolbin's music originates from their personal lives and truly resonates with our own ordinary lives. Amidst a noisy era and the daily routines of the city, quiet lyrics rush in passionately, following the moment when a personal song crosses over into the collective memory of the community. The folk duo Yeoyu & Seolbin is the team that won the Best Folk Album Award at the 21st Korean Music Awards. Based on deep stories drawn from their own lives, they have created songs that naturally touch the lives of their listeners. Rather than exaggerating personal pain or portraying it as a dramatic event, they sing with a calm yet firm voice. Their music possesses the power to make one quietly reflect for a long time, rather than offering clear answers. In that moment, the audience begins to project their own time and emotions onto the song. In this work, Yeoyu and Seolbin recall the home and time they spent in Jeju, a place they have since left behind. Their third album, *Comedy*, which captures their life in Jeju, was selected for the "100 Masterpieces of Korean Popular Music of the 2000s" and was also produced as a documentary. Directors Hwang Jeong-won and Ahn Sang-min, who directed this documentary, continue to look at their lives that have continued since then and the voices that remain within them. The audience is invited into their most private space—their "home"—and experiences firsthand how music originates from individual lives. They also discover that this story is connected to our ordinary daily lives. Even amidst the busy routines of the city, their quiet songs permeate deeply, creating moments where individual stories connect to everyone's collective memories.
