[Synopsis] The protagonist, Mr. Yoo, comes from a family that has practiced embalming for generations. Although there is a hierarchy among professions, he has carried this as a family business and did not wish to pass it down to his children. To the audience who visit his workplace, he shares his thoughts on life and the world through various stories about his life. He presents heartbreaking and tragic tales that we cannot forget, such as the collapse of the Seongsu Bridge, the sit-in at the Goliath Tower, and the sinking of a cruise ship. Sometimes he shares joyful memories; since death is something no one is born to avoid, he showcases diverse lives through these various stories. Meanwhile, another undertaker operates strictly according to capitalist principles. Following the changing times, he acts as a substitute for the chief mourner and even takes the place of wedding guests. It is up to the audience to judge which approach is right. Mr. Yoo, who did not want to pass down the family business to his children, sends his son away to find another job, despite his son's wishes. His son does not return even as time passes, leaving no hope of his well-being; for Mr. Yoo, the embalming he performs with the audience is his final act. Mr. Yoo, who devotes his heart to every single detail, has finished preparing for the farewell and is struggling with overwhelming grief. What could be making it so difficult? A single remark from Mr. Yoo, who has cared for countless deceased people. "Everyone dies once. But if you are merely buried in the ground and not buried in the hearts of those who remain, that is true death..."
