Synopsis

[Performance Introduction] <PROJECT_S - Balance> is part of Liquid Sound’s ‘Experimenting Human’ project. The ‘Experimenting Human’ project has featured artists specializing in traditional music, sound, and contemporary installation art, continuing works that seek to capture the critical threshold of art within the ambiguous state between installation art performance and sound performance. Centered on two musicians, Ra Ye-song and Song Ji-yoon, this performance serves as the first piece in the series, taking the form of a showcase. It begins with these two musicians, who studied traditional music, discussing the sense of musical balance derived from the two methods of music-making: 'composition' and 'improvisation.' The performance encompasses their approach to tradition, their exploration and understanding of the essence of the daegeum within the category of traditional music, and their lives as 'performers' and 'composers.'
