[Concert Introduction] [Mullae Jazz IN #Year-round Special] Luke Gillespie's Performance in Korea. Luke Gillespie, an active American jazz pianist, has served as a professor at the prestigious Indiana University for a long time while also performing as a classical musician. Gillespie won the Indianapolis Jazz Festival Competition, "Best Performance from the Indianapolis Star in 1993," in 1994, and has performed with world-renowned jazz musicians such as Benny Golson, Chris Potter, Arturo Sandoval, and John Patitucci. Praised as a genius pianist capable of reharmonizing and reinventing standard jazz, his performances showcase dramatic compositions thoroughly grounded in tradition. He has consistently received acclaim from audiences for his fantastic performances, featuring fantastic piano technique and diverse, modern voicings. Returning to Korea for his third performance this year, he plans to visit Mullae Jazz In, one of his most cherished performance venues in the country, and connect with the audience through the grand piano sound he has highly praised. Joining him for this performance are Korea's top jazz musicians: jazz flutist Yoon Hye-jin, Korea's first jazz flute major and a pioneer who completed her master's degree in Jazz Studies at the prestigious Indiana University in the U.S., worked in New York, and has since returned to Korea to pursue an unrivaled career; the brilliant saxophonist Lee Kyung-gu, a graduate of the renowned American jazz school New School Jazz; the renowned bassist Kim In-young, winner of the Grand Prize and Soloist Award at the 3rd Jarasum International Jazz Competition; and drummer Oh Sang-mok, a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Netherlands, who has been recognized for his exquisite technique and interplay. Together, they are set to deliver a moving performance unlike any other.
