[Performance Introduction] The Birth of American Music This performance explores the formation and history of American music through jazz. It introduces the process from the energy of the early swing and big band eras to Broadway and Hollywood music establishing itself as jazz standards. Subsequently, it conveys the charm of "singing jazz" through the stories of artists who fully captured the personal and lyrical appeal of vocal jazz from the 1950s and 60s.
