[Performance Introduction] When the rhythm rings out, the stage becomes a festival. Presented by the National Gugak Center’s Creative Orchestra, the orchestral performance <Festival> is a stage that reinterprets the deep breath of tradition with a modern sensibility, breaking down the boundaries of Korean traditional orchestral music and unfolding the essence of our dynamic music. Amidst the resonance of the majestic orchestra, the delicate melodies of the daegeum, piri, and haegeum come to life. From Yang Bang-eon’s "Frontier," familiar from broadcasts, to the deep resonance of Seodo Sori, the dazzling virtuosity of the mysterious saenghwang, and the tragic beauty of "Beompi Jungryu" from *Simcheongga*, the performance dramatically portrays the process of the sentiment of *han* (deep sorrow) soaring powerfully into the energy of *shinmyung* (exhilaration). The wave-like sound created by the overlapping of different breaths clearly reveals the essence of Korean music, and in particular, the "Pan-noleum" at the climax of the performance, where Samulnori and orchestral music blend together, will deliver an overwhelming sense of excitement that unites the stage and the audience. By incorporating popular trends and diverse compositions to boldly shatter the stereotype that "tradition is boring," this will become an exhilarating festival where even audiences unfamiliar with Korean traditional music are captivated by its dynamic energy, fully savoring the spirit of our sounds with their whole bodies.
